  1. Utilizing Pavement Friction and Texture Data for The Reduction of Traffic Crashes and Delays (2018-2021)

    PI: Joshua Q. Li

    Sponsor: Oklahoma Department of Transportation

    • Analyzed friction demands, influencing factors, and appropriate models (3 papers published).

    • Developed spreadsheet software for integrating safety costs in life cycle cost analysis (LCCA).

    • Drafted final report and passed the ADA requirements at first submission.

  2. Long Term Performance Monitoring of High Friction Surfacing Treatments (HFST) Sites (2016-2020)

    PI: Kelvin C.P. Wang

    • Collected field performance data on 36 HFST sites over 12 states in the U.S.

    • Evaluated the variation of HSFT sites over 3 years of observation

This project utilizes multiple methods to compare the results of 4 speed measurement systems in Oklahoma. The project is undergoing, so some details cannot be provided.

Peridynamics-based simulation of asphalt mixture cracking in semi-circular bending (SCB) test

Peridynamics, a recently developed fracture mechanics methodology that extends classical continuum mechanics to discontinuous material responses, is implemented to simulate crack propagation during the SCB testing process.

Generative design and workflow efficiency optimization

  1. Participated in generative design with Dynamo & Grasshopper in the fifth XiangYa Hospital (The project ranked 3rd in the Best Practice Award in Large Project Groups in 2018 Autodesk AEC Excellence Awards)
  2. Developed Revit plug-ins to improve design efficiency and BIM models quality, which reduced the average pipeline modeling time in 10,000 square meters area from days to hours
  3. Improved team workflow by exploring BIM design and checking software, translating English tutorial videos, increased team impact by drafting Chinese journal papers, and preparing English materials for Autodesk AEC Excellence Awards
